Dei Sub is Anthony Ruggeri of Philadelphia. "One" is his debut techno
release, though he is no stranger to the music world. Exposed solely to
classical music for the first 17 years of his life (spending 11 of those
years studying classical piano), Anthony then continued his exposure to
music with formal training in electronic music composition. Now he is
amassing a solid world in "the vast, amorphous realm of techno." He
cites Monteverdi, Tangerine Dream, Chopin, Speedy J, Stravinsky, the Orb,
J.S. Bach, Future Sound of London, LFO, Mahler, Hardfloor, and Banco de
Gaia as some of his diverse influences. Dei Sub uses both analog and
digital equipment to create its strong, diverse and unique electronic
sound.
"One" shows off Anthony's range of musical expression; he covers fast,
melodic "rave til dawn" techno as easily as he does experimental,
chill-hop dance tracks like "Wayside." Some at Defective have described
this track as "spacey DJ Who." This "One" definitely deserves a listen...
