AXS 2.0 Software Synth Patches for the Peavey PC1600x ----------------------------------------------------- This archive contains the following files for use with the PC1600x controller: AXS Oscillator Section.syx AXS LFO1 LFO2 FX Section.syx AXS Filter Section.syx AXS Pitch EG Section.syx AXS is an excellent software synthesizer for IBM PC's - it runs under DOS and has some very *FAT* features. It makes a great synth for sampler users, and general tweakers - and it's fully MIDI controllable, which is cool. Upload each of these files to a free Program patch on your Peavey PC1600x controller. I have broken down each section of AXS into it's own Peavey PC1600x patch - this way, there are enough sliders/buttons for each section. It's relatively easy to switch programs to program different AXS sections and if NewStyle have a clue they might even make a SYSEX string that AXS v2.2 can respond to that would highlight each section - that way, that SYSEX string could be sent whenever the user switches to a PC1600x program, and AXS could *HIGHLIGHT* the section you're editing... How cool would *THAT* be? :) Note that I haven't set up a patch for the sequencer or sampler in AXS, I leave that up to someone else that has the time and patience. Feel free to extend this set of patches as much as you like - I'd love to hear about any tweaks you make, though - so e-mail me! *SPECIAL NOTES* - I have *not* tested these .SYX files, so don't hassle me if it doesn't work. Just send me e-mail and I'll have another go at it. (jv@teklab.com is my e-mail address) - There's a bit of a glitch with the controller mapping of AXS and it's display of certain parameters on screen. They might have fixed this by now, but some slider values don't accurately match what occurs on the screen - for example, I think the LFO section has different waveforms that can be selected. These waveforms map to CC 1 - 7, but the LED's in the user interface are not laid out the same way - i.e. it goes 1.2.3.5.4.6.7 instead of 1..7... ah, you get what I'm saying. These patches *STILL* work, it just looks odd, and you'll get over it pretty fast once you start playing. You might want to fix it by changing the controller values in the PC1600x but I couldn't be bothered - I already told NewStyle about it, they might try and fix it in the next release. It's *JUST* a user interface glitch. Not a functionality problem. Anyway, it definitely kicks ass to have such a great soft synth tied to such a great hardware controller! Try it out!!!! j. -- Jay Vaughan TekLab jv@teklab.com More information about AXS Softsynth can be found here: http://members.xoom.com/newstyle/
