"A poor musician's Houston" This package of utilities for Cubase VST 5 and the PC1600 MIDI fader box is composed of : A. Two independant sets of files allowing remote control of several Cubase functions with a PC1600x. Each set is self contained, i.e. you need only one, and includes: - A collection of 31 Banks used by Cubase VST 5.0 to map incoming messages from the PC1600x to various Cubase functions (mostly the audio/VSTi/Group and MIDI channels); - A series of 31 corresponding PC1600x presets, designed to work in tandem with the above set of banks. - Word '97 templates, which you can print out and place over your PC1600x to see at a glance which fader/button is assigned to which VST function. Banks and Presets are linked, so that calling up one Preset on the Pc1600x automatically calls up the corresponding Remote Bank within Cubase. The difference between the two sets lies in the manner in which the PC1600x faders/Buttons are assigned to Cubase Volume/Pan Faders and Mute/Solo Buttons. In the first set, named 08 X 02 Matrix.zip, PC1600x, Faders are assigned in pairs to control a single (mono or one half of a stereo pair) audio, group, VSTi or MIDI channel in Cubase. This is a reworked version of a package I first released last august (2001). If you find this array confusing or wish to "see" more Cubase channels at a time and don't mind switching presets to set Volume and Pan, then the second set, named 16 X 01 Matrix.zip, is probably better suited to your needs. B. For PC users, a Studio Module Device driver (which I have created), which can be used to send and retrieve PC1600x sysex information from within Cubase's Studio Module. To install : follow the instructions in the Modules manual that came with your legally purchased copy of Cubase (hint: you'll find the relevant information at page 83). Don't bother asking me questions if you've lost or misplaced your manual; contact your dealer or local Steinberg distributor instead. NOTE: These files are free and cannot be sold or included in a commercial distribution without my written consent. They are provided as is and, although care has been taken to ensure that everything works as intented, no garantee of any kind is provided. Consequently, these files are to be used at your own risk. In particular, please note that they were created on a PC; except for the Studio Module driver which is PC specific (might also work on an Atari), they *should* also work on Apple computers but I do not currently have access to one, so I have not been able to test/verify this.
